When you visit us for routine examinations we can look out for any problems such as cavities, cracks and early signs of gum disease before they develop into more serious issues that require urgent treatment.
A typical examination involves a thorough check of the teeth, gums, cheeks, roof of the mouth and floor of the mouth. We’ll also check your bite, assess the quality of existing fillings, caps or implants for signs of weakness, and identify any areas of plaque build-up that need to be addressed. If you have a retainer or mouth guard, your routine dental exam is an opportunity for us to check the quality of these devices.
Your dental examination is also an opportunity for you to chat with us about any problems you’ve been having with your teeth. For example, if you’ve noticed any new sensitivity, occasional bleeding after brushing, or stains or marks on your teeth, these are things we ought to know when performing a check-up. Plus, if you’ve been considering ways in which to improve your smile, such as getting braces, tooth whitening or veneers, you can chat to us about the treatments we have available and together we’ll decide how to achieve your dream smile.
